what to expect
What are we about?
We strive to be a church where people can experience God, not religion. Jesus came to start a movement not an institution. We don't want to just "have church." We want to experience the power and the presence of God "being the church."
That's why we are big on the idea that we are all on a journey of sorts, each of us at different points. Our goal is to help people take the next step on their journey following Jesus.
We intentionally are a fellowship that highly values love. Learning to Love God and Love People is what being a follower of Jesus is all about
We intentionally are a fellowship that highly values grace. The gospel is the "good news." Jesus did not come into the world to condemn the world but to save the world (John 3:16-17). Therefore we believe that Christ's people should not be condemning or judgmental, but full of love and grace as they communicate to the world that Jesus died and rose again to bring forgiveness to anybody that will receive Him as their Lord and Savior.
We are a refuge for people who simply want to worship and serve the Lord.
Lavonia First Baptist Church is a place where both grandparent and grandchild can worship together. Our church is built on a rich heritage, yet has a passion to see the next generation reached for Jesus Christ. To that end, our church offers multiple worship services that are specific in design to reach different generational and cultural groups. No one style is better than another, but we believe we are called to reach, relate, and rescue those who are far from Christ, helping them to take the next step on their journey back to God.
Lavonia First Baptist continues to offer a traditional worship service in our recently renovated Main Sanctuary. Drawing from many rich hymns of the faith and tastefully incorporating some contemporary elements, this service resounds with the sounds of choir, organ, piano, and congregational singing.
With a commitment to reach the emerging generation, First Baptist began a modern, contemporary worship service in March of 2006 called the Bridge. This band-led service meets in the Fellowship Hall of the Family Life Center, offering an informal yet energetic atmosphere for worship.
Regardless of which service you choose to attend, at Lavonia First Baptist, we want you…
To be yourself.
To ask tough questions and get honest answers.
To meet new friends and build authentic relationships.
To grow spiritually and relationally.
To make a difference in your community and world by serving others.
